They want their residents violated in Jesus’ Name?

This is who The Summitt Church and Live to Forgive associate with? 

They want their fellow members violated in Jesus’ Name?

Yep, more sociopathic behavior!

In The Sociopath Next Door, Dr. Martha Stout writes:

“Sociopaths have no regard whatsoever for the social contract, but they do know how to use it to their advantage. And all in all, I am sure that if the devil existed, he would want us to feel very sorry for him.”

Thankfully, I know several families in my area who teach their children to keep their word. After all, it’s in the Bible.

who keeps his oath even when it hurts,   (Psalm 15:4b)

Even my non-Christian neighbors strive to keep their word and teach their children to do the same. It’s what “good” people do.

A false witness will perish, and whoever listens to him will be destroyed forever.  (Proverbs 21:28)

Manipulative Endeavors

Busy working today – wouldn’t it be nice to enjoy free food, free rent and free furniture and make people feel sorry for you at the same time? That’s what sociopaths do.

Indeed, Athena Dean boasts about such things:

“The owner had moved into the house during a traumatic transition time in her own life and had created a sanctuary out of it…

When I told her that I had no furniture or anything, and that I would be furnishing it a little at a time, she looked around and asked ‘Well, do you like what’s here? I can let you have whatever you would like.’”

Sounds like a classic sociopath.

In her book, The Sociopath Next Door, Dr. Martha Stout writes this:

“…any reasonably clever sociopath can act with saint-like niceness for his own manipulative purposes.”

Remember trash bags?

Remember stolen furniture? Athena Dean manipulated her former roommates for years – they paid the rent and utilities for years.

And now this woman is running another company?! 

It’s scary to even think about this woman writing contracts now for BookJolt! I cringe and grieve for her victims.

And… this is who the local Rotary Club embraces?!!!

The community would be best served if she would actually work:

Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.  (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12)

Without a Conscience

Recently I read The Sociopath Next Door by Dr. Martha Stout. Wow! This compelling book brought one name to my mind over and over again – even within the first few pages: Athena Dean.

You know, someone who:

• Deceives and manipulates. 
• Never plans ahead. 
• Stays irritable and aggressive. 
• Refuses to take responsibility. 
• Remains irresponsible. 
• Shows no remorse for hurting, mistreating and stealing from others. 
• Displays a fake charm that seduces people. 
• Holds a grandiose sense of self worth. 
• Is a pathological liar and becomes a parasite to “friends.” 
• Remains shallow and callous.

This is not even a complete list, but according to Dr. Stout, having only three of these characteristics indicate a sociopath.

Sadly, Athena Dean continues to abuse people. Many, many individuals endure her heartless actions, and it’s appalling to witness. It comes out in the little ways – the day to day things. 

Remember the kid who sat behind you in school and continued to provoke you? It became simply maddening! Worse yet, when you eventually stood up to the instigator, somehow you found yourself in trouble with the teacher. I hated that and still do!

That’s what life is like around Athena Dean. I cannot even attempt to put all incidents into words, but I’ll try to provide a little insight into this woman’s mental games.

Remember, here are just SOME examples of Athena Dean’s sociopathic behavior:

Sabotaged Power Point Presentations

What Athena Dean put my dear friend Carla Williams through is nothing short of psychological abuse! 

Moments before a presentation, Athena Dean literally changed Carla’s PowerPoint without Carla’s foreknowledge!

Now, imagine how Carla felt as she stood in front of the crowd. How would you feel?

Of course, Athena Dean saw nothing wrong with her behavior and showed no remorse. In fact, in some twisted way, she blamed Carla! 

This was not a mistake or even an isolated incident. Athena Dean committed this one example alone repeatedly. You see, Athena Dean gloated over sabotaging Carla’s projects since she herself wasn’t in the limelight at the time. 

In truth, that’s the kind of thing that provides a thrill to Athena Dean. She gaslights those around her and thrives on making others look bad while creating situations where they feel somehow to blame. 

After all, Athena Dean is a queen at playing the victim and blaming others! Indeed, her mind games could cause anyone to doubt their own sanity!

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.   (Isaiah 5:21)

Praise God that Carla relied on Him – and not Athena Dean – to present her workshops! For Carla learned a long time ago to make Him her refuge.

Stole $20,000 Worth of Property 

Athena Dean stole $20,000 worth of property from two very good friends of mine. She refused to allow these individuals to redeem their own property after they moved out of the house they shared with her.

Again, Athena Dean considers this good. She displays no shame – not even a hint of embarrassment.

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.   (Isaiah 5:20)

Killed a Cat

Not only did Athena Dean steal without remorse, she refused to provide adequate care for my friend’s cat and ultimately caused her death! 

Athena Dean literally made it impossible for my friend to get his cat from her clutches and in the end, it was too late. Of course, Athena Dean refuses to take responsibility or show any remorse.

A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.   (Proverbs 12:10)

By the way, it was Timothy Williams who helped Athena Dean purchase her beloved pet, “Copper” (a Vizsla). I doubt Hitler would have done that!

Created Chaos & Strived for Strife

Personally, I’ve watched Athena Dean create chaos and strife whenever she enters a room. 

In 2008 I shared a hotel room with Athena Dean at an international conference. I attended this same conference again this year and felt an unbelievable difference!

Honestly, because of Athena Dean, I never desired to return to this conference. She drains the life right out of you! 

Again, it’s in the little things – like the kid in school who constantly aggravated you!

When Athena Dean attended conferences, strife and insults abounded. Indeed, her behavior required nightly meetings (at least)! She refused to stay on task and do her job. 

In fact, we expected her to actually work – which explains why she really left the company. For if there’s one thing Athena Dean does not do – it’s work. (This also makes clear why her time now affords her the opportunities to drive around town trying to intimidate others, but that’s another issue).

Here are just SOME examples of what we endured at the hands of Athena Dean at the 2008 conference:

• She demanded attention and recognition from everyone. 
• She refused to plan ahead thus continually created frustration and tension. {She forced us to rush in order to not be late to the very meetings that she caused.} 
• She arrogantly gave orders to her supervisors. {Apparently only Athena Dean knows how to tip for a service.} 
• She continually interfered with other aspects of the job instead of faithfully carrying out her own duties. 
• She argued with her supervisors non-stop. {She even argued when it was time to eat lunch! Goodness, the woman argued when she should have been working and argued that she needed to work when it was time to have a meal! But, such is the nature of someone who likes to make up the rules.}

Amazingly, this year’s conference ran smoothly and in reality proved a great success! 

Indeed, industry professionals showed a willingness to work with us again, once they learned Athena Dean no longer was with us. It seems that my friends were not the only ones Athena Dean stole from, unfortunately.

You see, without Athena Dean one can enjoy peace and live without strife!

Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended.   (Proverbs 22:10)

I highly recommend that you take the time to read Dr. Stout’s The Sociopath Next Door. It stands out as a must-read for those who long to protect themselves – and their loved ones – from Athena Dean and other sociopaths like her.

For one thing that’s obvious to me:

Athena Dean willingly rejected a good conscience and shipwrecked her faith. 

…holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith.  (1 Timothy 1:19)

Please be careful of what you listen to or read. Do not let lies, slander, suspicion or fear keep you or your loved ones from the truth.

For Athena Dean is now left without a conscience.

The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.  (1 Timothy 4:1-2)

Enemy Pray Day

With great excitement in the Lord we announce the formation of Enemy Pray Day.

This August 19th will be a time of simple fasting and prayer for enemies of Jesus. Consider joining us in devoting this day to the Lord to pray for those who persecute the church because of their ignorance of the power of sin.

For I too was once foolish and ignorant about the righteousness, holiness and mercy of God. In the hope that God will bring many to joyous repentance we pray for our enemies to be blessed.

Even the apostle Paul was convinced to oppose Jesus in the beginning, in the name of God no less, but was shown mercy because of his ignorance.

Acts 26:9 I too was convinced that I ought to do all that was possible to oppose the name of Jesus of Nazareth.

There are still many people today who have the same enmity towards Jesus. Let us zealously unite to pray for our enemies as Jesus commanded.

Like Hitler?

Not so long ago, country singer Hank Williams, Jr. ignited a controversy for comparing President Obama to Adolf Hitler, and he later apologized for his “extreme analogy.” 

Sadly, Athena Dean actually compared Timothy Williams, a retired pastor, to Hitler without any sort of apology. 

For Athena Dean to make any false allegation against Timothy – or his wife Carla – is ludicrous…but Hitler?! 

Timothy and Carla are good people and nothing could be further from the truth! If it wasn’t so serious, it’d be laughable. Hitler?!!!  Seriously?!!!

 

Since I know Timothy personally and have experienced nothing but the utmost love and respect from this man of God, words almost escape me regarding this made-up charge.

But, when Athena Dean has relied on lies, slander, scare tactics and fear-mongering to manipulate others for over thirty years – and continues to do so – this becomes a natural result.

You see, it’s simply a case of finger pointing – of playing the blame game. 

Could it be that Timothy Williams simply directed Athena Dean to Jesus as he lovingly addressed sins in her life – all so she could be set free from them? 

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.  (John 8:36)

Could it be that Athena Dean ignored wise advice offered to her time and time again from this righteous man? 

The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks what is just.   (Psalm 37:30)

Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.   (Proverbs 8:33)

We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.  (Hebrews 2:1-3)

Could it be that Athena Dean only tolerates what her itching ears want to hear?

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  (2 Timothy 4:3)

Could it be that Athena Dean hates correction and refuses to admit any guilt or take the blame for her own actions?

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."  (James 4:6)

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.   (Proverbs 12:1)

But, back to Adolf Hitler – my son recently read Hitler by Albert Marrin. This book includes a vast amount of interesting – and possibly not so well-known – details about one of history’s most evil men, and my son pointed out some attention-grabbing particulars to me like:

• Hitler threw temper tantrums.

• Hitler feared the dark.

• Hitler believed someone specific was out to get him and made his soldiers search his room nightly.

But what stood out to my son the most was…

• Hitler HATED CORRECTION.

• Hitler REFUSED TO ADMIT HIS GUILT.

• Hitler REFUSED TO TAKE THE BLAME for his own actions – right up to his very death by suicide.

For example, Adolf Hitler refused to accept his artistic limitations. Instead, he blamed the admission officers and eventually the Jews (the apple of God’s eye) for his rejection into art school. In the end, with his inflated opinion of himself, he felt that Germany did not deserve such a man as his stature.

He’s quoted as stating, “I am beginning to doubt whether the German people is worthy of my ideals.” 

Hitler went on to order the destruction of his own country – exploding cities, factories, food supplies and other valuable resources.

You see, when someone hates correction, refuses to admit guilt, take the blame for his -- or her -- own failures and ultimately change, you find every practice of evil – including slander.

For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.   (James 3:16)

So…who really is like Hitler?

The Beaverton Court Case & the Moon

From far away a full moon often appears flawless, and one can become easily distracted gazing at its beauty on a clear night. Up close, however, crashing craters and barrenness mark its true form.

The Beaverton court case is like the moon. 

You see, God uses it to divert all the false Christians away from the true church.

Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'  (Matthew 7:22-23)

Looking forward to the new city where true Christians will spend eternity praising God – where the moon is no longer needed because of His radiant glory!

The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.  (Revelation 21:23)

Justice

We all know that some reputable judges preside from the bench, but unfortunately those who refuse to maintain justice outweigh those who truly deserve our respect.

As dead flies give perfume a bad smell, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.  (Ecclesiastes 10:1)

More than one attorney has shared with me that, while in chambers, judges (yes, plural) admitted that although they knew their rulings were unfair, they simply didn’t care. 

These judges actually expressed, “I’m ruling this way because this is my court room, and I can.”

I thought judges are called to serve the people – not themselves – to maintain justice and do what’s right. 

This is what the LORD says: "Maintain justice and do what is right (Isaiah 56:1a)

Sadly, power and arrogance continue to corrupt in some cases, and we find our courts anything but just!

Indeed, it seems that some judges care not to do what is right, but prefer to jump on a witch-hunt band wagon – as in the Beaverton Grace Bible Church case where Judge Jim Fun ruled in favor of the slanderer.

Only those up to evil slander could rejoice in a judge that re-affirms the Salem Witch Trials that founded America!

Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.   (Proverbs 28:5)

Judge Creates War

Just as in the days of old when the judicial system gave us slavery and brought on the civil war, Judge Jim Fun in Beaverton, Oregon has created a war – brother against brother – instead of upholding the law of peace.

For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.  He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.   (1 Peter 3:10-11)

It’s a sad day when a judge justifies, indeed encourages, slander. In fact, Judge Fun has done more than that – he’s authorized it.

In his ruling dismissing Grace Bible Church’s lawsuit against former parishioner Julie Anne Smith for defamation, Judge Fun actually authorized her to slander:

“(Pastor Chuck O’Neal) has the right to govern his congregation in the manner in which he chooses, and defendant Julie Anne Smith is authorized by law to express her disagreement with his performance of those activities.”

Never mind that this woman reportedly harassed this pastor, his family and his church for three years. Never mind that she labeled them a “cult” simply because she claimed they were a legalistic church.

Could it be that Ms. Smith simply chose not to live Scripture out in her daily life and therefore be transformed? After all, the only thing that counts is a new creation (Galatians 6:15).

Ms. Smith declared that she felt shunned by current church members. Could it be that those members wished not to associate with someone who publicly slandered them? Perhaps these believers decided to obey the Bible.

But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.   (1 Corinthians 5:11)

It seems to me that Ms. Smith joined and left the church on her own free will. That doesn’t sound like a cult to me. It sounds more like a witch-hunt at the hands and mouth of a former member – and now a judge.

Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. (Amos 5:15a)

True Character
